Saturday 15th June saw the return of the Great Yorkshire Bike Ride, which has turned into a tradition for some of the employees (and family members) here at Dakin-Flathers. This year was a little special due to it being the 30th anniversary of the annual event!! For those of you not familiar to the event, the course is around 75 miles long, starting in Wetherby and coming to an end in the seaside town of Filey on the East Coast of England – a very beautiful place.
Dakin-Flathers very own sales director Paul Greenley and his daughter Isabelle were the only contenders this time around from our Featherstone site. Maybe Paul’s amazing speed and stamina put our other employees off as they didn’t want to be embarrassed by his performance or maybe they were still scarred from last year seeing him in his lycra get up?! Who knows!!
Anyway, his daughter braved his choice of outfit and set off with the task of reaching the seaside resort – hopefully in the same day and without getting lost!!
After many miles, several hill climbs, speedy descents and even more; “come on dad….keep up…” comments, they both crossed the finish line. I’m sure you’ll know who finished first!
Congratulations to you both!!
