After Oliver’s ride in the park in May 2013, cycling across France in 9 days, it seemed fair to up the ante and try a real challenge – Haute Route Pyrenees!
The Haute Route cycling events are ‘the highest and toughest cyclosportives in the world’: prestigious and professionally run 7-day road races aimed at amateur road cyclists. Combining 790km cycling distance and 19,500 meters of vertical ascent, from Barcelona to Anglet, crossing 21 challenging Pyrenean cols and ascents between Spain and France. The route rediscovers the legendary ascents of Tourmalet, Peyresourde, Soulor and Aubisque and introduces new legends, such as, Port de Pailhères, Ax-3-Domaines, Hourquette d’Ancizan and Marie-Blanque.
With professional level event organisation including medical teams, mechanical support, rolling road security, film crews and, of course, massages, you will be 100% immersed in the world of cycling for seven unforgettable days.
Along with pain and fear, riders will be seduced by breath taking landscape but let’s hope they don’t take their eyes of the road for too long, the descents look pretty scary!! (take a look at the video)
Good luck to Oliver Garside and all involved!!
